WHAT IS
PODtox®?

PODtox® is a treatment involving injections of botulin toxin, a naturally occurring protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. It is a safe treatment and can only be carried out and prescribed by trained medical practitioners.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

PODtox® blocks the transmission of chemical messages from the nerve to the muscle so it stays in a resting state for around 3 to 6 months. It does not reduce the function of the foot however. In some cases PODtox can also be administered to tight calf muscles which can further help improve plantar fasciitis symptoms.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Results tend to last 3 to 6 months. We find that often frequency of treatments can be extended after a few sessions. Should you choose not to maintain the results and halt further treatments, in time, your muscles and skin will return to their pre treatment state.

DOES IT
HURT?

As local anaesthetic is used through a very fine needle in most cases only minimal discomfort is found with some patients reporting it was pain free. You must not drive for 24 hours after treatment and will need to rest for 24 hours. Normal activity can then resume.

This can aid healing and it is believed can help to shrink the painful neuroma. This, however, does not reduce the function of the foot so it will continue to move normally.

HURT?

A local anaesthetic is administered using a very fine needle, and most patients experience only minimal discomfort — many even describe the procedure as completely pain free. You should avoid driving and rest for 24 hours following treatment, after which normal activities can be resumed.

DOES IT
HURT?

This treatment is performed under a local anaesthetic (small injection to numb the sole of the foot) so you will not feel the small injections of PODtox®. Some people need the whole sole of the foot treating, others just the area around the toes. You must not drive for 24 hours after treatment and will also need to rest for 24 hours. Normal activity can then resume.
